What is Xtream Codes?

Xtream Codes is the server software most IPTV providers run, plus the API your player uses to log in. Here is what both mean and why it matters.

Xtream Codes is two different things that share a name. First, it's the most common server-side IPTV panel — the software a provider runs to manage subscribers, channels, and billing. Second, it's the login method your player uses to talk to that panel.

The server-side panel

Xtream Codes Panel (later XUI.one and various forks) is a PHP-based admin dashboard for IPTV providers. It tracks subscribers, generates M3U and Xtream API endpoints, handles billing, and proxies streams from upstream sources. The Italian Guardia di Finanza famously seized the original Xtream Codes operation in 2019, but the software had already leaked and is now maintained by dozens of forks.

The client-side API

From a subscriber's perspective, "Xtream Codes" usually means: three login fields — server URL, username, password — that your player uses to authenticate. Once logged in, the player auto-pulls your live channel list, VOD library, series library, and EPG through the Xtream API.

When you'll see Xtream Codes

Most modern IPTV providers offer Xtream Codes alongside M3U. Players that support it include TiviMate, IPTV Smarters Pro, XCIPTV, iPlayTV, Perfect Player, and GSE Smart IPTV. Older Smart TV apps (Smart IPTV, Set IPTV) only take M3U.
