The IPTVDB Score, transparently

One number. Six inputs. Here is the weighting, the normalization, and why we chose this specific formula.

The formula

Each of the 6 measurement buckets is normalized to a 0-10 scale, then combined with fixed weights. A service scoring 10 across every bucket would earn a 10.0 composite. A service scoring 0 across every bucket would earn a 0.0.

Weights

  • Peak-window uptime — 30%
  • Off-peak uptime — 10%
  • Buffering frequency — 20%
  • Channel retention (claimed vs working) — 15%
  • App quality across 8 platforms — 15%
  • Support response median — 10%

Normalization anchors

  • Uptime: 99.5% = 10/10, 95% = 5/10, 90% = 0/10 (linear interpolation).
  • Buffering: 0 events/hour = 10, 0.5/hour = 5, 2.0/hour = 0.
  • Channel retention: 100% of claimed = 10, 75% = 5, 50% = 0.
  • App quality: weighted average of setup-time score + feature-completeness score across 8 platforms.
  • Support median: <2h = 10, 12h = 5, 48h+ = 0.

Provisional scores (April 2026)

Scores labeled "provisional" in our directory are seeded from a mix of public signup-page claims, community sentiment, and vendor-declared specs. They will be overwritten with fully-measured scores after our first measurement cycle (May 2026). Never treat a provisional score as a purchase recommendation.
